Greater Manchester Marathon posts record entries
Prospective entrants of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon should be on red alert as less than 3,500 of the 18,000 places are still available. The figures show a massive spike in interest for the 2019 race with a 75% upturn in the number of registrations from this point last year.
Due to take place on Sunday 7 April, the event is regarded as one of the friendliest marathons in the UK and it also stands as one of the flattest with many choosing the event for its PB potential.
The 26.2-mile route takes in Sale, Brooklands, Timperley, Altrincham, Urmston and Stretford, with athletes congregating pre-race at the athlete’s village at Emirates Old Trafford – home of Lancashire County Cricket Club.
Looking ahead to the 2019 staging, Nick Rusling, CEO of organisers Human Race Events, comments: “We’re delighted that the word has got out about our event, which is testament to the hard work of the team who have worked tirelessly to earn these fantastic reviews and acclaim.
Nick continued: “The additional numbers will allow us to further invest, and ensure everybody taking part has the smoothest and most memorable experience yet. Best of luck in your training, and we can’t wait to see you on 7 April.”
