Meet giant polar bear 'Clawed Nelson' in the Event Village at this capital event
The 2023 medal has been cast; the penguin beaks are polished and polar bear suits brushed as the Cancer Research London Winter Run 10K is already more than half full with just over two months to go until race day on Sunday 5 February.
runABC South has heard that more than 12,000 have already signed up and have committed to run in London's coolest 10K while helping to raise funds to freeze cancer in its tracks. We have also been told that due to the phenomenal response and huge surge in demand for places the reduced price General Entry fee will close tomight Wednesday 30 November.
If you want to be part of London's winter carnival procession, time is of the essence. Event organisers Human Race have to finalise orders for race numbers, medals, and timing chips and this Wednesday is also the deadline to have your running bib personalised for free.
Cancer Research UK London Winter Run is the ultimate selfie race due to the larger-than-life winter characters encountered on the stunning route that features so many of the capital's iconic landmarks like the National Gallery, Nelson's Column, St Paul's Cathedral, The Gherkin, London Eye, and Big Ben.
Should there be any places available after this Wednesday they will be offered at the full price so there is a compelling incentive to enter now rather than leaving it until the final deadline.
Each year up to 25,000 altruistic runners take part including many who are attempting 10K for the first time. The latest winners were Ben Felton (Chelmsford, 32:14) and W45 Roxanne Heristchian (unattached, 38:05).
Cancer Research UK has been the official charity of the London Winter Run since 2015. Since then, over 100,000 runners have taken part and raised a staggering £4.5 million to help fund life-saving work in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
