Love Running In Lilliesleaf

Community-minded 10K returns to The Borders this autumn...

Organised since 2015, the Lilliesleaf 10K has community at its heart and has raised thousands for local projects across The Borders. It returns in 2024 with a race date of 20 October and is once again 'pay what you can' for an entry.

Organisers told us: "Our annual 10K with the hills, the views and the soup. Entry is a 'pay what you can' donation to make the event as inclusive as possible."

The 10K is an off road, hilly run through fields and tracks of the beautiful Riddell Estate with views of the Eildon and Cheviot Hills. The distance is in fact approximately 10.6K with 210m ascent (late changes to the route may be made by the land owner).

The race has a limit of 150 runners and will be filled on a first come first served basis. It is a family friendly event and all ages are welcome although under 16s must have a responsible adult present. Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead.

There will be post race refreshments and a prizegiving at the Currie Memorial Hall where village hall volunteers will be providing free delicious homemade soup and bread!

In 2023 Dale Colley of Central AC won the race in a time of 42:07 while the first female home was Anna Galbraith in 44:50, Anna ran a great race coming fourth overall' Speaking about the success of the day, organisers said: "Another great 10K! Thank you to everyone who joined us today in the sunshine. We raised £3000 which will help to support our music and rugby projects across the Borders."

And looking ahead to this year's race: "We have always loved seeing families and friends at this event encouraging each other and we know it will be the same amazing community this year. Please join us."
