Leicester’s Big 10K

PB Potential In Leicester

Could this big 10K be the one to provide the PB you seek?

Leicester's Big 10K is a big deal for those looking to achieve a big new PB so if that sounds like you, make sure you are there to toe the line on 13 April next year. This beautiful and very flat 10K takes place in stunning Abbey Park in Leicester.

The mainly flat course means a great chance of a big PB in a stunning location with plenty of green space to run around at Abbey Park on the banks of the River Soar.

The river divides this beautiful park into two distinct areas: on the western side of the river are the fascinating Abbey Grounds with the remains of the twelfth century Leicester Abbey and the ruins of Cavendish House, a seventeenth century mansion. To the east of the river lies the highly decorative Victorian part of the park with its evergreen shrubberies, trees, boating lake, miniature railway, and formally planted flower displays.

Organisers say: "Join us in April for Leicester’s Big 10K. 2024 sold out completely so enter early to book your place. The previous races have had over 1200 entrants choosing to take part in Leicester’s Big 10K either as their first ever 10K race or else the more experienced runners chose it to try and beat their PB’s."

The two start waves cater for all abilities: those who run 50 minutes or less at 9am followed by the rest at 10.20am. Runners complete loops inside and outside the park on an officially measured 10K course.

There’s a water station at the half way point and more water at the finish along with a handsome medal. Treat yourself to a sports massage courtesy of Fire & Earth then indulge in some post-race refuelling thanks to the home-made cakes.
