Blackpool Festival of Running

Blackpool's Fast & Fun Festival

There are so many reasons to visit Blackpool next April, as we find out here...

There is always plenty going on in Blackpool, from its beach to the amusements not to mention the rollercoasters! But if you fancy visiting for another reason then how about heading to the coast to take part in the Blackpool Festival of Running which will take place over the weekend 26/27 April.

The festival will offer a range of races to suit every level of ability and ambition, whether you're a seasoned marathon runner seeking a new challenge, a spirited beginner looking to conquer your first 10K, or a family seeking a fun-filled day out. And with its rich history and stunning seaside views, Blackpool provides the perfect backdrop.

The magic starts on Saturday with the 10K, 5K and 2K distances. The 10K is a one lap, flat, traffic-free course on the promenade walkways all along the seafront.

On Sunday it is the marathon and half marathon that take centre stage. The marathon route is also completely traffic free and combines both the main roadway promenade and the promenade walkways all along the seafront. The half marathon follows a similar route and is also a PB hunter's dream!

Organisers enthuse: "Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey through the vibrant streets of Blackpool, England, as we bring together athletes, enthusiasts, and runners from all walks of life for a weekend filled with exhilarating races and incredible camaraderie."

Every finisher in all events will receive a blingtastic medal which organisers say brings the 'wow' factor. In addition, all finishers in the marathon and half marathon receive a commemorative technical t-shirt to wear with pride after the run!
