Kendal to Preston 50 Mile Ultra Marathon

Could You Run From Kendal To Preston?

Look ahead to spring and test yourself on this scenic but accessible ultra race...

Ultra runners are being invited to take on a memorable journey through some of the North West’s most scenic landscapes as the Kendal to Preston 50 Mile Ultra Marathon returns this year, on 16 May. The event is open to both first time ultra runners looking to step up in distance and experienced athletes aiming for a fast time over 50 miles.

Starting at Lakeland Maze Farm Park near Kendal, the fully marked trail route stretches 50 miles to the finish at the Smiths Arms in Lea Town near Preston. Along the way, runners follow a picturesque corridor that includes long sections beside the historic Lancaster Canal, with views across Morecambe Bay on one side and rolling hills and dales on the other.

The course passes through a string of well known locations including Burton in Kendal, Carnforth, Lancaster, Galgate, Forton and Garstang, offering a varied and visually rewarding backdrop to the challenge. Organisers say: "Our event is designed to be as much an experience as a race, combining endurance, exploration and camaraderie across the ultra distance."

Support on the route comes in the form of seven mandatory checkpoints where those taking part can refuel and check their progress. Snacks and drinks will be available at each point as well as at the finish. All finishers will receive a medal and a custom event hoodie to mark their achievement and if you wish you can camp on site the night before the race.
