New Course For Jon Ward 5K

The new course is flat and fast, perfect for a summertime 5K PB...

If you're after a fast, timed, summertime 5K that has charity at its heart then head to Herefordshire for Hereford Courier's Jon Ward 5K which is scheduled for 18 August with a fast new course at the Cycle Track at Hereford Leisure Centre.

Speaking about the return of their event, a spokesperson from the Couriers said: "We are pleased to annouce that this year's event will take place on the cycle track at Hereford Leisure Centre, the surface is smooth and flat, 5 laps will get you that 5K PB!"

This race is held in memory of ex-Hereford Courier Jon Ward who sadly passed away in June 2020. All profits from the race will be donated to charity in memory of Jon. Jon was a decorated runner, competing across every distance from 5K to Ultra Running. He was a proud member of the 100 Marathon Club and many locally knew him well, Jon was a Courier from 2010 – 2017.

The race will be chip timed & suitable for runners of all abilities, the route will be fully marked out and marshalled & we’ve even got a medal for all finishers.

If you can't be there on the day, then there is also the Jon Ward Virtual 5K to consider which you can complete during the period 10-18 August. There will be a bespoke finishers medal for all participants. Organisers say: "Race anywhere you like in memory of Jon and either upload your activity to Strava, tagging Hereford Couriers or email us a copy of your activity."
