New 10K For Falkirk

A new 10K is heading for the town's Helix Park in April...

We've already brought you news of a brand new ultramarathon for the Central Belt of Scotland in 2024 - the Forth Ultra & Team Relay and now for those of you who don't have the legs for a distance of this magnitude we bring news of the inaugural Scurry Around The Helix 10K. Both events are organised by the Scurry Events team and both will start and finish in Falkirk's Helix Park on 20 April.

The new 10K 's course is mainly tarmac or hard packed and relatively flat with only 75ft of ascent and descent. Starting in Falkirk's Helix Park, runners will pass the Kelpies before winding around a circuit of the Cobblebrae Community Woodland and skirting along the River Carron to return to the finish on the Helix Great Lawn.

For youngsters looking for a shorter distance, there is also a 1.5K event which starts on the great lawn then follows a clockwise circuit around the Helix Lawn and Helix Lagoon.

All 10K runners receive a race medal, race memento (likely to be a new for the season Scurry buff) and other goodies too. The 1.5K Fun Run entrants will receive a fun run medal, race memento and snacks at the finish.

For those looking for a reminder on the ultra event, it consists of a 43-mile (69K) circular ultramarathon around the Firth of Forth estuary. The interesting part about this race is the bridges! Participants will cross two iconic Forth bridges as they run between two well-known Scottish trails - the Fife Coastal Path and the John Muir Way.
