Hop Run Runner

Hop On Down To Midlothian

There's a new distance on offer at this year's tasty Hop Run...

There's a race in Midlothian that expertly combines great beer and a great trail running experience and it's all set for a 2023 rerun. The Hop Run is a 10K trail run with a tasty twist – the finish line is at Stewart Brewing’s HQ where beer, music, food and good times are all guaranteed after your run.

The race proved so popular in 2022 that it makes its return this year on 10 June with a brand new distance running alongside. Organisers will be introducing a new 5K Hop Run which will start and finish in the same locations as its longer counterpart.

Runners will register at Stewart Brewing HQ before race action starts at the historic Rosslyn Chapel (think Da Vinci Code) with the trails heading through the beautiful valley of the North Esk River. Runners will pass tumbling waterfalls, still river pools, quiet natural forests and atmospheric ruins of the area’s surprising industrial past, before emerging at Stewart Brewing to celebrate their achievement over a beer (the first one’s on the organisers).

These races provide the perfect amount of running to work up a thirst (and a hunger), so it is pleasing to note that the tap room will be open at the finish, serving delicious pizzas and award winning beer, two good reasons for a sprint finish!

This year's event will also be a 'greener' affair, a spokesperson from Durty Events said: "Feed station cups are our biggest source of waste so we’re stopping using them. And as some of you love t-shirts and some of you don’t, we now give you the option to donate the cost of your event tee to our run charity, Bright Sparks."
