Green Park Reading 10K start 2023

Green Light For Green Park

Triumphant return for Reading 10K after four years...

There was a super response to the long-awaited return of the Green Park Reading 10K – formerly known as the Royal Berkshire 10K – on Sunday 4 June 2023 with 1,155 finishers spread across the revised three-race programme managed by Good Running Events.

There were 886 competing in the main 10K race and a further 269 took part in the supporting Mini Marathon 3K and Mini Mile family and kids events. So it was green for go in Green Park for the first time since 19 May 2019 when the winners were M40 Simon Lewis (Pontypridd Roadents AC, 33:44) and W40 Lesley Locks (Hart Road Runners, 36:26).

This year's Green Park Reading 10K men's champion was Alexander Miell-Ingram of Radley AC (#2436 above) in 31:27 from local Reading AC pair George Suthon (#2928, 32:46) and Isaac Farnworth (#2182, 33:31). The first master M40 was Mark Worringham (Reading Roadrunners, 34:06) in fourth place.

The women's race was an equally classy affair with Julie Emmerson (#2758; Coventry Godiva Harriers, 34:47) making the top ten overall. Anna Boniface (Reading AC, 36:45) and Alexandra Cook (W40, 38:18) of Wycombe Phoenix Harriers completed the female rostrum.

There were 250 runners operating at better than 5min/km pace for sub-50 minute results and more than 500 beat the hour on this swift, traffic-free course based at the surprisingly green and pleasant business park just off Junction 11 of the M4 Motorway.

The Mini Marathon 3K – on a course that stays in and around Green Park – was won by under-13 Jasper Legg (Bracknell AC, 10:12) who is an 18:30 parkrunner. Charlotte Bailey (Team Kennet, 11:38) set the pace for the female entrants in a time faster than her under-15 track 3,000m best.

The Mini Mile leaders were under-13s Reece McDonald (Reading AC, 6:31) and Catherine Rogan (Basingstoke & Mid Hants AC, 8:18).
