Go green for the festive season & run the Virtual Great Sprout Scuttle
Mad about the sprout as this festive event returns in a virtual format
Sprouts are like Marmite: you either love them or hate them; but this humble vegetable is not only part and parcel of the Christmas dinner but also the star of a popular festive running event from Curly’s Athletes. 2020 will see the third outing for the Great Sprout Scuttle however it has changed to a virtual format and will be held between 12-21 December.
Participants walk, jog, run or wheel (wheelchair, handcycle or a buggy) 5K or 10K either as a single session or in stages but these must be off-road. Evidence is submitted of the completed run for the award of a sprout scuttle medal in return and a sprout-based spot prize if lucky. For the competitive runner looking to push themselves, there are prizes for overall winners and age group winners.
Festive costumes always bring a smile and are especially welcome this year when we are need of some good cheer. Santa, elf, snowman or in keeping with the theme, the ‘full sprout’ are options and the best outfits will win a prize.
Curly’s Athletes is a community and charity-focused company and will again be supporting the RSPCA Doncaster Rehoming Centre and 100% of any donations and fundraising goes to them. A donation from each entry will also go to this charity.
Two training groups have been set up so participants can see who is training for the 5K and 10K and live leaderboards on the weekend 12 December will allow them to compare their results.
There is further encouragement via the hashtag #AREYOUINORSPROUT. For more information about the event and to enter, visit the Curly’s Athletes website.
