Great Scottish Run Returns To Glasgow With Big Year Buzz
Glasgow race builds momentum...
The AJ Bell Great Scottish Run returns to Glasgow on Sunday 4 October 2026 with both a half marathon and 10K set to take over the city centre in one of Scotland’s most popular road races.
Starting on St Vincent Street and finishing on Glasgow Green, the route takes runners through a mix of city streets and open spaces that highlight Glasgow’s architecture, energy and character. Expect strong crowd support throughout, with entertainment and atmosphere building as runners head towards the busy finish area in the heart of the city.
As a well established event on the Scottish calendar, the Great Scottish Run continues to attract large fields each year, helped by its accessible route and reputation for being one of the friendliest big city races in the UK. The timing also places it as a key fixture in the autumn season, drawing runners chasing a PB or closing out their year on a high.
Entries are now open and demand is expected to be strong, especially with Glasgow already hosting the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games earlier in the summer. With that wider sporting momentum in the city, places could fill quickly for both distances.
The 2026 edition benefits from that unique backdrop, with the city still riding a wave of sporting energy. Combined with training support in the build up and live tracking on race day, it adds another layer to an event that continues to grow while staying true to its community feel.
