New Route For North East Favourite
There's a new route planned for this North East 10K...
Entries for the AJ Bell Great North 10K which is set for race action on Sunday 2 July are now open! This event is a favourite amongst runners in the North East and this year it’s back bigger and better than ever with an exciting new route passing some of Newcastle’s most iconic sights.
The new route will start on the famous Great North Run start line and take runners across the iconic Tyne Bridge twice, before weaving through Newcastle city centre and round the town moor, before a grandstand finish in Exhibition Park. It’s a route for all ages and abilities, whether it’s your first 10K or 50th, the Geordie supporters and lively city atmosphere will keep you going until you cross that finish line – take your place on the start line and be part of the action.
Paul Foster, Chief Executive of the Great Run Company said, “We’re delighted to be able to offer this brand-new running experience, straight through the heart of our vibrant city centre. We’re excited to be able to offer even more runners the opportunity to run over the famous Tyne Bridge, while also seeing the sights of the city from a whole new perspective.
“We know from our experience in other locations, how special it is to run on closed roads, past city centre landmarks and we’re sure the spectator support will reflect Newcastle’s reputation as a warm and welcoming city.”
Another exciting addition for 2023 is a partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation. Runners will have the option to be a local hero and run for NUF with a black and white run number, raising donations for sports and wellbeing programmes in the area.
