The Great North 10K is one of the North East's largest city centre road races, organised by Great Run and held on fully closed roads through the heart of Newcastle. Part of the Great Run Series, the event attracts thousands of runners each summer to experience one of Britain's best known mass participation 10K races, showcasing many of Newcastle's most recognisable landmarks.
The accurately measured course starts and finishes on Great North Road before crossing the Tyne Bridge twice and weaving through Newcastle city centre. Runners pass famous landmarks including Grey's Monument, the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle Civic Centre, Haymarket and the Great North Museum, while enthusiastic crowd support creates a memorable city running experience from start to finish.
The event features chip timing, a bespoke finisher's medal, a finisher's T-shirt, closed roads and a fully marshalled course. Combining an iconic route, outstanding atmosphere and professional organisation, the Great North 10K remains one of Britain's premier city centre 10K races and a highlight of the Great Run Series.
