Garendon Gallop 10K

Grounds for approval at Garendon Gallop 10K

After the success of the 2019 inaugural race organisers of the Garendon Gallop 10K encourage runners to give it another go and enjoy a picturesque course in private grounds. The race is back bigger and better for 2020 with a few changes to the route since last year...

Garendon Gallop 10K is organised by Start to Finish Race Events and is a visual treat from beginning to end. The route goes through the stunning Garendon Park Estate in Leicestershire, home to an array of historic features that won’t fail to catch the eye as runners pass by. These include a Grade I listed Triumphal Arch, Grade II listed Temple of Venus and another Grade II listed item, the 24 metre high Obelisk inspired by architecture and the Classics.

Starting at 10.30 from Charnwood College, Thorpe Hill, Loughborough, runners will head into the 18th century landscape park, along an off-road course consisting of hard terrain that includes a few hills. The organisers have saved the best until last in the shape of a small hill that was a favourite with participants last year.

There is no risk of getting lost as the route is marked every kilometre and marshals will be in place to keep everyone on the straight and narrow. Prizes will be awarded for variable categories and every runner will be presented with a technical T-shirt.

Gemma Steel was the overall winner of the inaugural race in 36:43 with Chris Baxter of BADGERS second in 37:05. Will she return to defend her title?

The Garendon Gallop 10K takes place on Sunday 26 July. Enter via the Start to Finish Race Events website.
