10K, & Then Some!
This globetrotting, Staffordshire 10K offers a little bit more...
If you haven't much actual globe trotting planned for the summer months, then how about taking part in a race organised by some Globetrotters instead? Gnosall Globetrotters that is, who will once again bring runners in Staffordshire the opportunity to take part in their 10K which will take place, this year, on 8 June.
Speaking about the race, organisers say: "We look forward to welcoming you to Gnosall for our friendly, exciting, multi-terrain 10K ish (actually 11.2K) race."
Starting and finishing at the Gnosall Family Sports Club, the route incorporates the Shropshire Union Canal, local farmland, woodland area of Broadhill, the disused railway line and the ‘boardwalk’ through The Acres. The course is an undulating, multi-terrain 11.2K route through the beautiful surrounding countryside and is arguably the most scenic race in Staffordshire.
Whilst waiting for the runners to return, spectators can enjoy refreshments at the Gnosall Family Sports Club and children can have fun in the play area. There will also be a number of local business and sports providers displaying their wares in the start/finish line arena. Upon completion of the race, runners can enjoy a well-deserved pint at the Sports Club which remains open until the evening.
All finishers will receive a fantastic technical t-shirt and yummy goodies as their reward at the finish line. Organisers add: "We love randomly distributing spot prizes to worthy runners of all abilities in addition to the formal trophies for the first three men and ladies.
"To commemorate the tragic death of a young member of our community and former Gnosall 10K runner, Sam Myatt, we will also be awarding the ‘Sam Myatt Trophy’ to the fastest youngster (aged 20 or younger) on the day."
