Get On For The Grimsthorpe Gallop
There is still time to saddle up for the Grimsthorpe Gallop on Sunday 24 June as entries have been extended until Thursday evening due to demand. The event's spinning medal may cause a spur of the moment decision.
The Grimsthorpe Gallop is back for the second time after a successful debut in 2017. Organised by SBR Events with three distances to choose from - 10K, 10 miles and Half Marathon and entry options for Canicross and Nordic Walkers. (Note - the 5K has sold out).
All races are held in the grounds of Grimsthorpe Castle within a private estate, complete with stunning views of the Lincolnshire countryside. The routes include a lake, grassy paths, woodlands and tree lined tarmac avenues not forgetting the Castle itself which also acts as the start and finish. There are water stations at regular intervals for both human and canine entrants and all routes are fully signed and marshalled.
There are trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female and age category winners: trophies for Canicross winners and certificates for Nordic Walking winners.
The bling is special for this event with every finisher receiving a unique ‘spinner’ medal which with three images - a butterfly, grouse and hare, all of which can be seen at Grimsthorpe Castle. There is also an equestrian themed technical T-shirt of which there are two versions; a blue top or a premium green T-shirt that will be a talking point at any race or training run. Refuel with drinks and hot and cold food at the Race Village or an ice cream if the fine weather continues.
Entrants are reminded to bring cash to pay for car parking with all fees going to registered charity, Grimsthorpe & Drummond Castle Trust Ltd.
