Flying Into November
A memorable date for this year's Flying Fox 10 Miler...
Remember, Remember the Flying Fox 10 takes place on 5 November! Organised by Stone Master Marathoners, this autumn 10 miler will take runners on a scenic route through the quiet country lanes that surround Standon in Staffordshire.
First held in 2003, this challenging race is now firmly established in the North Staffs Road Runners Association annual programme. Ten mile races are few and far between and yet they are a stepping stone from a 10K to a Half Marathon; bridging the gap in a way that is manageable for many people.
Run on scenic but quiet lanes, the undulating course is based around the small village of Standon near to Eccleshall in rural Staffordshire. However, the route will differ slightly this year, as organisers explain: "Due to ongoing improvements being made to Westbridge Park, we are unable to hold the event in the traditional location. But come along and enjoy the opportunity to take part in a one off route that may never be used again!"
Regardless of the different course, runners will once again be sprinting to the finishline to be rewarded with a fantastic memento – a bottle of Flying Fox ale! Not only that, there will also be post race massages courtesy of Kinisi. Paul Phillips of Kinisi commented: "I enjoyed racing this event last year but unfortunately I am unable to run it in 2023. However, my loss is your gain as I will be back offering post race massages.
"So if you haven't entered already get your name down and come and say hello on the day. If you have entered get your friends, work colleagues signed up with the promise of a 'free' post race massage - surely too good an offer to refuse."
