Edinburgh's Winter Party
Here's an event that has something for the whole family this winter in Edinburgh...
Edinburgh's classic Winter Run 5K will return early next year with the race date having been announced as 20 January. It offers so much more than just a 5K race though, with a packed programme of running events for all the family planned for the Holyrood Park extravaganza.
Race organiser Durty Events has once again joined forces with Edinburgh City Council to put on the fun-filled affair, they commented: "We invite Edinburgh residents and visitors alike to dust off their trainers after the festive period and challenge themselves to the enjoyable Edinburgh Winter Run 5K race.
"Take in magnificent views of Edinburgh and enjoy our undulating single lap course which takes runners around the iconic Arthur's Seat once, in a clockwise direction."
This is a great excuse to get some exercise as a family together, and as an introduction to running for children. On the day there will be Family Mile, a flat one mile loop starting and finishing on Queen’s Drive as well as a Toddler Dash, a 100 metre dash for the finish line for those aged up to 5 years old.
Organisers comment: "This is a day we hope that showcases inclusivity for anyone and everyone – no matter what age, race, culture, or even what country you’re from. Everyone is invited and welcome to come and be a big part of the biggest party. We are open to all and proud of it."
The party will start with a band at Holyrood park and DJs will be providing banging tunes around the course to runners. There will also be food and drink stalls to keep everyone refreshed and energy levels up.
