This scenic Sunday adventure ends with medals and castle views...

Scotland’s most majestic running backdrop is calling once again as the Floors Castle Trail Race returns for its second edition on 11 May 2025. Following the success of last year’s debut, this event invites runners to lace up and take on stunning routes through the picturesque grounds of Floors Castle - the largest inhabited castle in Scotland.

Offering a choice of 10K or 5K distances, the trail winds its way along hard-packed gravel paths through ancient woodland, sweeping open parkland and past breathtaking castle views. The undulating but fast courses provide the perfect blend of challenge and scenery for runners of all abilities, whether you’re chasing a new PB or simply soaking in the regal surroundings.

For the youngest adventurers, the Junior 3K Trail Race offers budding runners the chance to experience the thrill of race day in a safe and welcoming environment. With a lively crowd waiting at the castle finish line, it’s a memory-making introduction to the world of trail running.

The event is delivered by TriWorks, the team behind the award-winning East Fortune Duathlon, and promises the same friendly atmosphere, sharp organisation and spectacular finish line welcome. Last year’s inaugural race saw around 100 runners tackle the scenic routes, with Martin Gore clocking 37:56 to win the 10K, while Lucy Murray claimed the 5K crown in 21:26 - proving the course is just as rewarding for competitive racers as it is for first-timers.
