Last chance to get (ARF)estive with December 2020 challenges
Mileage challenge and virtual trail race organised to help runners see out an '(un)forgettable 2020'
All but the last few places have been snapped up for the Auchterarder Running FESTIVE 2020.
Organised by Perthshire-based running club Five Star Active, the FESTIVE is a seasonal companion to the Auchterarder Running Festival, which went virtual this September for the obvious reasons.
Making up the FESTIVE are two events taking place over the whole of December: a ‘memorable and interactive’ mileage challenge, for which just a handful of places remain, and a virtual ‘Chilly’ edition of the Chilli Trail 10K, which sold out the last of its 720 places on Friday.
Runners taking on the mileage challenge have from the first of December until the end of the year to run, walk or jog a target distance of 50 miles, 100 miles or 150 miles. Those achieving their targets and submitting their proof will be rewarded with a bespoke ARFestive snowflake medal and an event-branded snood.
The children’s version of the event – a 20 mile ‘walk, run, skate, scoot or cycle’ – has already sold out.
To give a good end to an ‘(un)forgettable year’, Five Star Active plan to make the event ‘the BEST monthly running/walking experience they possibly can for everyone taking part’. News, updates, information and motivation will be posted regularly on the organisers’ social media channels.
A proportion of every entry fee from the Auchterarder Running FESTIVE will support the C200 Fund, a new charity helping young people in Perth and Kinross aged between 16–25 move from the edges of care towards independent living without parental or family support.
