Last chance to be in the running at BTR Virtual Races
The clock is ticking at the competitive BTR Virtual Race Series
Time waits for no-one and that includes the BTR Virtual Race Series held during June, July and August and with a variety of distances to choose from. Competition is fierce as it enters the final week and anyone wishing to take part is advised to do so as soon as possible. There are trophies for the male and female winners in each race.
A lack of live races during lockdown resulted in very frustrated runners! However, BTR Liverpool had the answer in the form of a series of ‘competitive’ virtual races over the summer months that provided an outlet for that angst and there have been strong performances by several runners notably Lisa Gawthorne.
Lisa leads the way for the ladies in the 96 1 Mile, Port Sunlight 5K, Port Sunlight 10K, Mersey Tunnel 10K, Off Road 8 and the Liverpool 10 Mile: Lois Varnam is fastest in the Liverpool Skyline Half Marathon. The men's honours are more evenly spread with six different runners in pole position.
Participants may not have been toeing the line with each other but they were still able to compete albeit virtually. They selected their preferred race, completed the distance then submitted evidence of their finish time that was added to the leader board. This was an opportunity to get the bit between your teeth and push the pace to target a PB or aim for the top spot. Everyone received a medal for their completed distance.
The series continues until 31 August when the male and female winners will be confirmed and trophies awarded.
If this has whetted your appetite, sign up now for any of the 6 races via the BTR website.
