Winter Run Big On Fun

This winter event promises a ‘party atmosphere’ this January...

Edinburgh's Holyrood Park will once again host the city's popular Winter Run which involves a packed programme of running events for the whole family to enjoy in the New Year.

Scheduled for 21 January, it will certainly be a chilly affair, but what the event lacks in temperature it more than makes up for in party atmosphere! A chip-timed 5K run around Edinburgh's Arthur's Seat is the main event. Suitable for both fun runners and competitive athletes, the race follows an undulating single lap course around the hill.

The Family Mile takes place on a flat out-and-back stretch of Queen’s Drive, and is the perfect opportunity to introduce children to running and exercising together as a family. The third race, the Toddler Dash, is a 100m ‘dash for the line’ for younger children accompanied by an adult.

Organisers, Dirty Events and City of Edinburgh Council say: "We invite Edinburgh residents and visitors alike to dust off their trainers after the festive period and challenge themselves to the enjoyable Edinburgh Winter Run 5K race.

"This is a day we hope that showcases inclusivity for anyone and everyone – no matter what age, race, culture, or even what country you’re from. Everyone is invited and welcome to come and be a big part of the biggest party. We are open to all and proud of it.

"We’ll be getting the party started with a band at Holyrood Park. We will also have DJs and banging tunes around the course to keep you going. There will be also food and drink stalls to keep you refreshed and your energy up."
