Drumlanrig Castle to host new summer trail races

Swansea-based race organisers Tough Runner UK have just announced details of their second Scottish event. Entries to Drumlanrig Trail 5K, 10K and Half Marathon (Sunday, 5 July 2020), will open online this Friday (15 November).

The company’s first Scottish event – January’s Falkirk Epic Trail 10K, to be held within the grounds of Callendar House and the Upper Callendar Wood – is reported to be nearly sold out.

The inaugural edition of next summer's Drumlanrig trail races, which organisers feel ‘is set to be one of the most exciting multi distance events in Scotland’, will be set in the beautiful surroundings of Drumlanrig Castle. Drumlanrig Trail 5K, 10K and Half Marathon will be Tough Runner UK's first-ever multi-distance event.

Early bird prices for all distances will be in effect from Friday, but it’s unclear how long they will remain in effect. In addition, runners signing up now will also receive a free Tough Runner VIP gift.

Race routes have not yet been made public, although organisers have said that the courses will take runners through the castle grounds and ‘through some of the most idyllic scenery and settings’.

All routes will be fully marked and marshalled and include water/feed stations; all distance races will also be chip timed, and open to runners of all abilities, from beginners to elites.
