At the double for the autumn Gruesome Twosome
Two sets of legs are better than one for the Gruesome Twosome 10K and Half Marathon
Get together this autumn for the unusual Gruesome Twosome 10K and Half Marathon from Tape2Tape Events. Scheduled for 10 October, participation in the the event requires a pair but runners can look forward to a multi-terrain course in some of the best Lincolnshire countryside and there are cash prizes to aim for. The 10K starts at 10.30am followed by the Half Marathon at 11am.
The 9th outing for this popular 10K and Half Marathon, it is open to male/female/mixed pairs, many of whom return each year to make the most of the opportunity to run on private land through the Lincolnshire Wolds. Both routes have been agreed upon and permission granted for race day thanks to local landowners and farming companies.
These routes are not flat: they are tough and hilly and while the race is open to all abilities, runners must be able to complete the 10K under 1:45 and the Half Marathon under 3:15. Visually impaired participants and their guide runners are welcome and entry is free for the latter.
There are cash prizes, vouchers from race sponsor Metres to Miles and a trophy for the top three pairs in the Half Marathon. The winning pair in the 10K will be presented with cash, vouchers and a trophy: the second and third pairs receive cash plus a trophy.
All finishers receive the traditional beanie hat and a hot drink plus food. There are no goody bags in keeping with the organiser’s environmental ethos and drinks containers that can be recycled are used. Car sharing is encouraged.
