Dalmeny Estate Trail Half Marathon

Sunshine On West Lothian

We look at the race action from the weekend's Dalmeny Estate Trail Half...

The fourth Dalmeny Estate Trail Half Marathon took place at the weekend (27 October) and with the weather playing ball as well as the spectacular backdrop of the Forth bridges for all of the runners, supporters and helpers to admire, all agree that it was a real belter!

There were 298 finishers, with times ranging from 1:20:20 to 3:26:21 and an average time of 2:05:04. The first male over the line was Max Meres of Edinburgh AC in 1:20:20. Second place went to Sean Walker of Pitreavie AAC in 1:24:02 with third claimed by Jamie Thom in 1:26:10.

Over in the women's race it was Isla Cubitt who was victorius in 1:31:28 while Isabella Ellwood of Edinburgh AC was second in 1:33:29 and third went to Louise Tyler of Dunblane Runners in 1:39:18.

Speaking about the event, organisers said: "Today’s run was a fundraiser and awareness builder for the RNLI Queensferry. Thank you so much for all the donations today which totalled approx £300 in cash and card, we will match that and so a grand total of £600 will be winging its way to them this week."

The generosity didn't stop there, with donations collected on the day for Shoe Share Malawi - some 77 pairs of trainers were handed in.

The race was enjoyed by all, with participant, Sarah Bailie, commenting: "Really great race. Thanks to all the marshalls and volunteers, only decided to do it this morning instead of my normal Sunday long run. Medal is beautiful and the flap jack in the goodie bag was delicious! Loved the zero waste and not a single bit of litter, no reason why every company can't do the same. First time running with Blast. Won't be my last."
