If you're looking for one of those great family days out then jot down Sunday 20 September in your running diary for 2020 as that's when we see the return of Cumbernauld 10K.
One of the West of Scotland's most popular 10k races, Cumbernauld 10K, is back on Sunday 20 September. If you’re looking for one of those great family days out then jot that date down in your running diary.
There’s a whole range of events included in this family community running festival. Alongside the main 10k, there’s a 3k timed run for S1 to S4 pupils, a children’s 1k race for pupils in P5 to P7, a 400m dash for pupils in P1 to P4 and even a toddler dash for 3-5 year olds. Finally for the walkers there’s the Victory Mile walk event in support of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland.
Starting and finishing inside Broadwood Stadium, the course takes a varied route along the surrounding roads then around scenic Broadwood Loch. It’s fast, flat and at only £10 for the 10k (special offer until 31 March), it has to be up there with the best as far as value for money is concerned. There’s great bling to be had and, when the serious running is done, there are lots of free fun activities for the whole family including bouncy castles and some ‘come and try’ sports coaching activities for families on the day of the 10K.
