Cheadle 4

Check Out Cheadle 4

It's a late June date for this popular Staffordshire road race...

The Cheadle 4 will return to the Staffordshire race calendar this June, with a race date of 30 June planned. Race 9 in the North Staffordshire Road Racing Association (NSRRA) League Programme, the event is held on local roads apart from the start and finish which is an open grassy area at the local recreation ground.

Organisers say: "The lovely up and down Cheadle 4 returns on Sunday 30 June. 143 have already entered (157 places remain) and planning ahead really does help the club in ordering the race memento for all runners which this year is a 50x30cm microfibre towel!"

NSRRA runners will be battling for points whereas others will be happy to finish at this well established and challenging race in the Staffordshire Moorlands. One of two races from Cheadle RC, the other their Spring 5, it attracts a good turnout of runners from local clubs who like to test themselves on the undulating course.

This is an event where you need your climbing legs as there is a long pull at mile 2 which is a test of grit and fortitude. However, the ascent is followed by a long downhill which gets the legs turning over at speed then the final stretch back to the recreation ground and the finish.

There are prizes for the top three men and women and the first veteran male and female in all age groups. Last year's winners were Carl Moulton (Boalloy RC) in a time of 21:49 with Isabella Shaw (Trentham RC) the women's winner in a time of 25:03.
