Tartan Warrior

Calling All Warriors

Award-winning event returns this spring and would be a cracking day out for the whole family...

Fancy taking part in an award-winning event this spring? Ayrshire's Tartan Warrior won OCR Small Event of the Year at the 2023 UKOCR awards and organisers are calling on participants to come and take on a fresh, exciting and fun challenge in 2025.

The Tartan Warrior Classic Obstacle Course will take place on 30 March and consists of 8K and 5K distances over its family friendly obstacle course. The course will be a mixture of fields, short hills, burns and trails. There will be around 40 obstacles spread out over the course to keep all of the family on their toes.

Organisers say: "Be prepared and dressed appropriately to get wet and muddy and have loads of fun. You will be crawling, jumping, climbing and swinging your way around. Don't forget to look out your tartan - the more Scottish themed outfits the better, could we be seeing Nessie in the burn?"

Carol Shields was a Tartan Warrior Runner in 2024 and says of the experience: "We all took part in the 5K fun run, great obstacles, wet and muddy fun, screams of laughter, and the best marshals and volunteers. The most encouraging, helpful and happy bunch, you'd be hard pushed to find more enthusiastic people. We are a team of all ages and levels of fitness, every single one of us had an absolute ball."

Those taking part can expect a Tartan Warrior finisher's medal, technical t-shirt, free photos, free face painting, free Tartan Toddlers course and music from an outdoor DJ. There will also be a food and coffee truck at the finishline for celebratory refreshments.

The day before, on 29 March the Tartan Warrior 3K and 100m races will take place. For the more 'serious' OCR racer, the 3K is the British Championship Event and also acts as Race 1 in the 3K OCR UK Series as well as Race 2 in the Scottish OCR Series.
