If anyone needed evidence of the appetite for a tough autumn day in the Cotswolds, Broadway Marathon & Half Marathon has provided it.

The 2026 event on Sunday 15 November is now full, with 302 participants entered across the two distances and another 80 runners already on the waiting list.

Starting on Broadway High Street, both races waste little time introducing runners to the hills. The route climbs towards Broadway Tower, with views across the Vale of Evesham, before continuing through the northern Cotswolds towards Snowshill and Stanway.

It is at Stanway that the two races go their separate ways. Half Marathon runners begin the journey back towards Broadway, while the Marathon continues to Winchcombe and passes Sudeley Castle before tackling its final major climb.

This is very much trail territory. The majority of both courses is on trails or unpaved tracks, with only the necessary road sections linking them together. Fields, woodland and the Cotswold escarpment provide the setting, while the repeated climbing ensures the Marathon in particular is about considerably more than covering 26.2 miles.

Both races are licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules.

Anyone who has missed out can still join the waiting list without paying. If a place becomes available, runners will be contacted and given the opportunity to complete their entry.

With 80 people already waiting, Broadway's combination of challenging trails, Cotswold villages and serious climbing clearly has no shortage of takers.
