Good Times Guaranteed At Goodwin 10K
Bellahouston Harriers' are back with their flagship event later in the year...
Bellahouston Harriers' flagship event, the Brian Goodwin 10K will return in 2023 with a slightly earlier date than usual. The well-attended event will this year take centre stage around the city's Pollok Park on 2 June rather than the usual mid-June date.
Entries opened just a week ago and organisers have been delighted to see the spaces filling up fast, commenting: "Exciting to see our start list beginning to fill up - we have sold over 100 places within the first week of going live!"
Over the years, the Brian Goodwin 10K has become a 'must-race' event on the Scottish running circuit. The road race combines fast racing and a competitive field with a 'Friday night summertime' vibe that includes the promise of a free beer and burger at the finish line!
The race starts and finishes at Cartha Queen's Park RFC and is staged over a two-loop course largely inside the scenic grounds of Pollok Park. The course route is officially certified and benefits from traffic management controls which ensure that all sections run outside the park will be on traffic-free roads.
Last year's race incorporated the Renfrewshire 10K championships and saw Olympian Derek Hawkins, and Cambuslang Harrier Eve MacKinnon claim the title of race winners when the top nine finished under the 31 minute barrier, a further 29 finishers broke 34 minutes, while 115 finished under 40 minutes!
Bellahouston Harriers are well known for extending a warm welcome to all runners, families and supporters. This is an event that encourages everyone to stay and socialise at the clubhouse, where the barbecue and post-race prize-giving will be hosted.
Early bird entries are available until Monday 13 February, so be quick if you want to benefit from a reduced entry fee!
