The Fun Run That Really Is Fun!
Aberdeen's BrewDog Run returns this October...
The first weekend in October will see the autumn outing of the popular BrewDog Run take place in and around Aberdeen. Organised by Fit Like Joggers running group, the run will take place on Saturday 1 October and is the third event in four-run series - the next one being a festive affair scheduled for 28 December.
Not a race, this 'fun run' takes runners on a 21-mile route from the brewery’s Castlegate pub through Aberdeen itself to Dyce. From there it heads up the old Formartine & Buchan Railway line, now a long distance path, through Newmachar and Ellon, before finishing at the brewery’s DogTap and Overworks.
If the full run seems a bit much, then you can start at Dyce, and reduce the distance to 15 miles (24K).
Speaking about the event, a spokesperson said: "Run at a steady pace, via the Gallowgate, Haudagain, and Dyce, and then along the old railway line to Ellon. You can expect to take around 3.5 to 4 hours to cover the 21 miles. But, combining beer and running, what more could you ask for?"
Voted the UK's Best Fun Run in the 2020 Running Awards, the event began in 2016 and has since proved so popular that organisers increased the outings from one to four in a year.
There is no doubt that part of the popularity of the event is the post-race 'refreshments' in the DogTap. After the October event runners are invited to hang around where they will be presented with their hand-made medal and goody bag which will contain a special edition t-shirt, beer, snacks, water and more!
