Tibberton Trot triumph for Morris and Thurley
They were amongst a prize-winning parade at this community-spirited 10K.
Gabriel Morris and Sarah Thurley were first male and female at last Sunday’s (11 September) Tibberton Trot 10K that was well supported by local businesses and residents. The medal and drinks voucher received a ‘thumbs up’ by those taking part.
This was an event for everyone: there was a 1K Fun Run for families and a 10K for individuals, both of which were held in Tibberton, Shropshire. It is a keen supporter of local community groups with donations from the event going towards these worthwhile causes.
There was a two minutes silence before the start of the 10K as a mark of respect for Queen Elizabeth II. Runners set off from Tibberton Playing Fields along a picturesque, multi-terrain course consisting of bridlepaths, country lanes, fields and road. Plenty of variety on this changed route in an attractive location in fine weather.
There was a Shrewsbury AC one and two with Gabriel Morris the winner in 34:17 and Ben Gibson the runner up in 35:07. Dominic Gardner of Tipton Harriers was third in 35:26.
Sarah Thurley of Wolverhampton & Bilston AC was the winning lady in 41:53. Claire Thompson of Vale Royal AC was second lady in 45:24 and Charlotte Edwards third lady in 45:52.

There were wooden trophies for the top three men and women and age category winners plus spot prizes. Ben Locke (45:01) and Marie Llewellyn (50:11) were the winners of the Owen Meredith Shield for local residents.
Every finisher received a medal and goody bag containing a voucher for a free drink at the village pub – always a vote winner! Then post-race refuelling and relaxing with bacon sandwiches, teas, coffees and cakes at the village hall.
Race Director Martin Murdoch was delighted by event feedback and grateful for the financial contributions from local businesses, saying: “A big ‘thank you’ to all who enabled it to be a success.” Logalog were the main sponsor and a further 11 companies sponsored the category prizes.
Organisers look forward to seeing everyone again at the 2023 event.
