Kick Off 2026 On The Trails
Kick off 2026 with a stunning Cumbrian trail race...
Trail runners looking to start the new year on a high can look forward to the Brampton Trail Run on 4 January, returning to Brampton in Cumbria for its fifth staging. Organised by Fellside Events, the 7K course promises muddy, scenic fun on trails, farmland and woodland paths just outside the town.
The undulating route is mostly off-road with some hills and natural descents, offering runners stunning views across the Cumbrian landscape. With only a short section on road, participants will enjoy a mix of fields, woodland and trail. Dan Wilson commented on Facebook: "Always a favourite to start the year. Hoping for some mud or maybe a sprinkling of snow."
Adding to the day’s excitement, Brampton Trail Run will also host its second junior event. The Brampton Junior Trail Run takes place before the adult race and follows part of the main route. Open to runners aged nine to 15, the junior event offers age category prizes and bespoke medals for all finishers, bringing younger runners into the trail running community with a course that still features the same scenic views and challenging hills.
All finishers of the adult race will receive a bespoke medal and free event photographs will be available to download after the run, giving participants great keepsakes to remember their first race of the year.
