Mellor 10K Trail Run

Mellor's March Outing

This 10K trail run will be a draw for trail enthusiasts and those looking for a spring test of their legs...

Runners looking for a scenic, hilly challenge next spring should consider Mellor 10K Trail Run which will return on 15 March, with the event again raising funds for Mellor Lacrosse Club. Situated on the border between Stockport and the High Peak, the route offers around 300m of elevation gain, a mix of runnable trail running with a fair measure of challenge for those who enjoy a test.

Starting with a short stretch on closed roads, the course soon follows the tracks and woodland trails of the River Goyt valley for a relatively gentle run to Strines. From there the climb begins, carrying runners past Brookbottom and out over Mellor Moor, with sweeping views toward Lyme Park, Kinder Scout, Alderley Edge and even the Manchester skyline.

A descent follows over Mellor Golf Course, then through Knowle Woods before the final stretch into Mellor Sports Club - all on mostly off-road ground, with path, tracks, farmland, country lanes, stiles and occasional steps.

Organisers told us: "Every finisher will receive an event memento and after the race, participants and supporters are invited to enjoy food, drinks and camaraderie at Mellor Sports Club. Past editions have included a mix of refreshment options, including everything from wood-fired pizza to coffee vans and a sports-club bar."
