The BMW Berlin Marathon is one of the world's leading road marathons and forms part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Starting and finishing in Berlin's Tiergarten, the course takes runners through the German capital and past many of its most recognisable landmarks.
Runners follow a fast and predominantly flat 26.2 mile course on wide city roads, a layout that has helped Berlin become renowned for exceptionally quick marathon performances. The route passes through multiple districts of the city before its famous closing stages near the Brandenburg Gate.
The event attracts elite athletes, club runners and recreational marathoners from around the world, creating extensive spectator support throughout the course.
