First up is the BMW Berlin Marathon on Sunday 25 September 2022. This is one of the six Abbott World Marathon Majors and the super-fast course has produced 11 world records, including the last seven men's records culminating in Eliud Kipchoge's current 2:01:39 set in 2018.
Destination Sport Experiences' Product Manager, Marie Howarth, has run Berlin Marathon seven times and you can read her 'been there, done that, got the T-shirt' blog here. You can also sample the atmosphere from last year's race in runABC's report here.
The greatest thrill has to be passing through the Brandenberg Gate close to the finish – a real goosebumps moment. Runners were first able to pass this iconic landmark in the unified city on 30th September 1990, bringing both halves of Berlin together in a truly moving way.
Destination Sport Experiences' chosen hotels are IntercityHotel Hauptbahnhof, Novotel Berlin Mitte, Mercure Checkpoint Charlie and Mercure Tempelhof. Packages from two nights to five nights start at £279pp, less 10% with code RUNABC10 with guaranteed entry at £180.
Closer to home is the Irish Life Dublin Marathon on Sunday 30th October 2022. No need for the ballot for sought-after entries for this event – Destination Sport Experiences holds entries at £100 to go with two attractive accommodation packages priced from £229 (less 10%).

Join Team DSE for the full experience with like-minded runners and add the Team DSE Pasta Party at Hyatt Centric the evening before the race and The Merry Ploughboy dinner and show for the authentic Irish craic after the race.
Dublin is known as the Friendly Marathon and 20,000 runners are expected this year. It was first run in 1980 and is a firm favourite with international runners, leading all other European marathons for the number of foreign competitors taking part.
The course is mostly flat with a long stretch through beautiful Phoenix Park, formed as a royal hunting Park in the 1660s, but save a bit of gas for the gradual climb between miles 20 and 22.
