Be A Part Of Birmingham's Summer Of Sport
Kick-start Birmingham's big sporting summer at this great May event…
Birmingham has a big summer of sport to look forward to this year with the Commonwealth Games and the Diamond League both visiting the Midlands city in 2022. Your running may not be elite standard (what do you mean I'm being rude?), but you can be a part of this exciting sporting summer by signing up to the Great Birmingham Run scheduled for 1 May.
The popular event offers runners the choice of both 10K and half marathon distances and for the first time both will take place on the same day, meaning you will experience an even bigger celebration of Brummie running!
Not only that, the route you run will be the same as the one used in the Commonwealth Games, so there is a unique opportunity to run where the World’s elite will follow, starting in the heart of the city and passing landmarks including the Bullring, Edgbaston, Cannon Hill Park, and Digbeth.
Organisers also promise brand new entertainment zones and a live DJ on both the start and finish line providing a melodic boost to your efforts. There will be returning favourites 6 Bands on the Run as well as three charity cheering buses from CRUK, Alzheimer’s Society and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The fun doesn't stop as you cross the finish line though, the aforementioned DJ will be there blasting out the hits and you will be rewarded with your medal moment and finisher’s t-shirt before celebrations continue in the event village where there will be live music, food and drink and a lot of proud faces!
If this sounds like your kind of event you can find out more and enter at the Great Run website.
