Brand New 10K For Banbury!

With a town centre start/finish and scenic countryside loop, the Banbury 10K looks set to become an exciting new fixture for 2026...

A brand new 10K road race is coming to the area this summer with the launch of the Banbury 10K, taking place on Sunday 6 September in Banbury, Oxfordshire. This inaugural event promises to bring a fresh running challenge to the town and offers an exciting new date for runners of all abilities to add to their calendars.

The Banbury 10K will start in the heart of the town before heading out towards Broughton Castle and into the surrounding Oxfordshire countryside. Runners will then return to Banbury, passing the famous Banbury Cross on the way to a finish line on Banbury High Street, where a lively atmosphere and a finisher’s medal will be waiting. The route is a single loop that blends town centre streets with scenic rural roads, offering variety and plenty of support along the way.

Designed to be welcoming and inclusive, the Banbury 10K is open to experienced runners chasing a personal best, charity runners, casual joggers and those tackling their first ever 10K distance. The organisers are keen to establish the race as a new local tradition, encouraging runners from across the Midlands and beyond to experience Banbury from a different perspective.

On the day, runners can expect a well organised race with chip timing, live results, clear route signage and friendly marshals providing support throughout the course. The welcoming atmosphere aims to make the event as enjoyable for first timers as it is rewarding for seasoned athletes.

To make the day a family friendly occasion, there will also be a free 1K Kids’ Fun Run held after the main race has finished. Every child who takes part will receive a medal, adding to the celebratory feel of Banbury’s newest running event.
