Aviemore Half Marathon starts and finishes at Badaguish in the Cairngorms National Park, following a scenic route through Glenmore Forest Park. The course passes through woodland and alongside Loch Morlich, with views towards Cairn Gorm and the surrounding mountains forming a striking backdrop.
Runners follow mainly solid forest tracks and paths, with only a short section on the ski road. The route descends from Badaguish towards Glenmore before crossing the River Luineag and continuing towards the shores of Loch Morlich. Forest paths above the loch provide some climbing and descending before the course returns through the forest to Badaguish.
The Half Marathon is organised by Badaguish on behalf of the Speyside Trust and is designed to showcase the Cairngorms without the severe climbs associated with mountain racing. Its combination of runnable trails, varied scenery and a start and finish within the national park makes it a distinctive Highland half marathon.
