Runners at The Longhorn event

Join the stampede at The Longhorn 2021

50K added for runners new to ultra distance.

The Longhorn is back on Sunday 18 April and with a range of distances to suit every runner from the speedsters to the long distance specialists. SBR Events, organsiers of the popular Nottinghamshire event, have included a new, 50K for anyone wanting to try an ultra and are offering a generous time limit.

A sense of optimism and spring weather are helping to lift the nation’s spirits and for Midlands runners keen to race again, this event in the scenic surroundings of Thoresby Hall is likely to be at the top of their list. In keeping with the ongoing situation regarding Covid-19, additional safety measures are being designed that meet official guidelines and protect paricipants.

Entrants have the choice of 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, 50K Ultra or 60K Ultra and if they prefer to run with man’s best friend, there are Canicross options. Nordic Walkers are equally welcome.

All of the above are held on a stunning trail course that loops around open and ancient woodland, farmland and countryside within the grounds of Thoresby Park and private areas in Sherwood Forest. There are a few climbs to test the legs.

The 50K Ultra is ideal for the runner looking to go further than a marathon and in a safe, supportive environment. They have 8 hours to complete the 50K or 31 miles which is equivalent to 5 laps and start at the same time as the 60K Ultra runners. The course will be signed, fully marshalled and have distance markers enabling them to concentrate on running the laps and on to the finish.

SBR Events will regularly update their Covid safety guidance which will be sent to participants before race day.
