Running With Wolves
The Wolverhampton Half & 10K races will return to the race calendar this autumn...
There was a triumphant return in 2022 for Wolverhampton Half Marathon and 10K, but it was absent from the race calendar in 2023. The good news for runners in the Black Country is that the event will return once more in 2024 with a race date of 8 September the one to remember!
Always a huge favourite among local runners and local clubs, organisers expect a strong turnout from the likes of Tipton Harriers, Wolverhampton and Bilston AC and Telford Harriers but there’s also a huge community flavour to the event which is a joint collaboration between Stuweb and City of Wolverhampton Council.
It is a new route for 2024 with more details to come soon, but it looks likely the race will once again start and finish in the city's West Park - widely considered to be one of the finest examples of unspoilt Victorian parkland in England.
In 2022 Adrian Puchala took victory in 1:20:17. The female winner was Hermione Green of Lichfield Running Group in 1:29:06.
In the 10K it was Daniel Swan of Birchfield Harriers who won the race in a time of 33:56 while first female was Isobel Billau in 46:22.
Looking ahead to the autumn race day, organisers are also keen to appeal for volunteers, saying: "We are looking for Volunteer Superhero’s to encourage our runners through this event. If you are interested in becoming a Super star then contact us with your details so we can arrange for you to make this happen."
