The launch of a once-in-a-lifetime competition celebrating Abbott World Marathon Majors' (AWMM) 20th anniversary means you have the chance to secure guaranteed entry to every World Marathon Major event! The World Tour has been created by AWMM in partnership with their Official Tour Operator, Marathon Tours and Travel and will award one runner entry to every Abbott World Marathon Major, along with accommodation, expert on the ground hosting and a $10,000 travel budget.

The winner will receive guaranteed entry and full support for all six original Abbott World Marathon Majors, covering Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon, London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, Chicago Marathon and New York City Marathon. Completing these events will see the runner earn the coveted Six Star medal.

The prize extends even further, with the winner also receiving entry to the newly Abbott World Marathon Major qualified Sydney Marathon. There is also the potential to include the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and the Shanghai Marathon, should their inclusion be confirmed, opening the door to the possibility of chasing all nine stars worldwide.

Unlike traditional competitions, the World Tour is not about filling out an entry form. Instead, applicants are asked to show why they deserve to win by answering a single question on social media, explaining why they should go on the World Tour. Entrants are encouraged to be creative and focus on storytelling rather than speed, whether that means highlighting a love of global running culture, a passion for community or an ability to capture emotion and experiences along the way.

All entries will be reviewed by a judging panel made up of inspiring marathon runners and content creators. Entries close on Friday 9 January 2026.
