Be A Winner At Wilne
Fast 10K incoming this September...
If it's a fast 10K you're after this autumn then you can't go wrong with the Available Car Wilne 10K (Sunday 3 September), one of seven events in the popular RunDerby Race Series. Thanks to its speedy course, every year there are some top quality athletes among the field all competing for individual glory and championship prizes.
In 2022 over 800 participants gathered at Brookfield Farm, the site for the Race Village with Samuel Moakes of Sutton in Ashfield Harriers & AC first home in 30:02 while Charlotte Taylor was the women's winner in 34:02.
Despite being a hot spot for fast runners, the scenic, flat, traffic-free road route is open to runners of all abilities and is an excellent course for those looking to complete an easy flat 10K or for the runner who is chasing a personal best time. Race organisers say: "This 10K road race is possibly the flattest 10K in the country - there is a total of only 5.6 metres between the highest point and the lowest point on the course!"
The picturesque riverside route goes around three gentle bends before opening out alongside the River Derwent embankment. The route continues around another series of gentle bends then approaches the scenic St. Chad’s Water with St. Chad’s Church opposite.
Included in the entry fee is chip timing and results service, technical event t-shirt to all finishers, pre and post-race massage and extensive prize structure.
