Rugged & Rewarding
This event blends strength and trail running in a unique outdoor challenge...
Founded in 2024 by Daniel Flint of Wild Deer Events and Sam Marshall of CrossFit Chester-le-Street, Wild Hybrid was created to fill a gap in the fitness event scene by combining trail running with outdoor functional fitness. The result is a dynamic, high-energy paired challenge set in scenic locations and it’s been turning heads since the launch of Season 1 earlier this year.
The final event of the inaugural season will take place at Cannock Chase Forest on 20 September and there are still places available for those keen to test themselves. Known for its expansive woodland, winding paths and fire roads, Cannock Chase offers the perfect backdrop for this test of endurance and strength. The event zone will be nestled among the trees, close to the venue centre and parking, providing a unique and immersive experience.
Participants take on a series of 1K trail runs broken up by tough functional exercises carried out with a partner. These include sandbag squats, atlas stones, kettlebell deadlifts, farmers carries and dumbbell shoulder-to-overhead movements. The challenge concludes with a 5K run to push both stamina and mindset to the limit.
Following its successful debut season, Wild Hybrid will return in 2026 for Season 2, promising an even bigger experience. Organisers say: "Expect all-new workouts, exciting new venues, and the introduction of solo entry alongside the popular pairs format. Whether you’re competing for the podium or just taking on something new with a teammate, Wild Hybrid offers a challenge that’s as rewarding as it is rugged."
