runABC is in the process of upgrading and improving its online service so you might encounter the odd glitch over the next week or so but rest assured we’re working on them and the new site will be a fantastic resource for our running community.

QEOP Autumn 10K

Time waits for no one – so get out there & use it!

An extra hour in bed this weekend could be just the boost you need to get you feeling in peak racing form and the runABC South race listing service has plenty of choice when it comes to selecting your event...

Officially we change from British Summer Time back to Greenwich Mean Time at 02:00 hours on Sunday (28 October) but with just a little forward planning you don't need to get up in the middle of the night to change the clocks! For this weekend's preview we will assume you have enjoyed an extra hour of undisturbed sleep and are raring to go on Sunday morning.

Lo and behold, The Race Organiser anticipated this exact scenario and is putting on a bonus Autumn 10K in the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday morning. This is an additional race to the first Saturday of the month series and takes runners past the best of the famous London 2012 venues on fast waterside pathways (see photo). Online entries are available from £16 (£2 surcharge on the day) and include medal and goody bag.

NEWS UPDATE - THE AUTUMN 10K from the Race Organiser has been postponed and won't be taking place this Sunday - sorry!

There cannot be a more temporally-focused event name than Clock Change Challenge. This 10K and 5K race takes place from Calne Leisure Centre in Wiltshire twice a year – no prizes for guessing when the event takes place next year! The entry limit is usually reached for this fast, flat course that has yielded 10K records of 30:27 by Patrick Martin and 37:15 by Amy Chalk.

It looks like the ubiquitous 10K is the distance of choice on Sunday with further races over 6.2 miles listed at Wimbledon Common (with a half marathon); Newton Abbott (with half and full marathon); Gloucester; Shepton Mallett; Crystal Palace; Thurrock; Crawley and Breamore in the New Forest, Hampshire.

One race that caught our eye is the Chasing Pumpkins 10K on the beautiful trails of Epping Forest. Pumpkin fun is promised and pumpkin headgear and sweet treats are included in the entry fee! Race venue is Haven House Children's Hospice and what better way can there be to use up that extra energy on Sunday morning while raising funds for such a good cause?
