Ready to start at the WBH Winter Warmer 5 Mile Race

Keep out the cold at the WBH Winter Warmer

Entries close Christmas Eve for this multi-terrain race.

Get 2022 and the race season off to a running start at the West Bromwich Harriers (WBH) Winter Warmer 5 Mile on Sunday 2 January at 10.30am. This is a civilised start time if you are still recovering from New Year’s Eve and the multi-terrain course will sort out the remains of any hangovers.

The Winter Warmer 5 Mile is one of two races from West Bromwich Harriers, the other their Summer Sizzler 5K and is looking good to go on 2 January. There will be a few changes to the course as a result of obstacles but apart from that it is a ‘proper’ route on woodland trails, footpaths, grassland and muddy sections in Sandwell Valley, West Midlands.

It's the third year for this UKA licensed race which has been growing in popularity amongst local running clubs who lent their support in 2018 and 2019 and hopefully, will do the same again in 2022. It is an enjoyable and challenging race which starts and finishes in front of the main farm and there are prizes for the top three men and women and a prize for mixed teams of three.

Want to have a go at the course record? The men’s is 29:42 set by Barry Lloyd of Royal Sutton Coldfield AC in 2019 and the women’s is 33:10, posted by Kelly Butler of Birchfield Harriers in 2019.

There is ample parking, toilets on site and a medal for every finisher.

Whilst online entries close Friday 24 December there will be entries on the day. Make this multi-terrain race your first of the New Year by signing up via the West Bromwich Harriers website.
