Warrington Transport Trail Half Marathon is a circular multi terrain race starting and finishing at Thelwall Royal British Legion Sports Club.
The route makes extensive use of Warrington's former and existing transport corridors, beginning with a short section of the Trans Pennine Trail before crossing the swing bridge at Latchford. Runners follow the Manchester Ship Canal and cross the River Mersey at Woolston Weir before continuing along the New Cut Canal towpath and the route of the former Black Bear Canal.
Later sections return to the Manchester Ship Canal and pass Walton Gardens before joining the Bridgewater Canal and eventually reconnecting with the Trans Pennine Trail for the run to the finish.
The course is waymarked and marshalled, with trail footwear recommended following wet weather. Chip timing and a finisher medal are included, while complimentary hot drinks are available before and after the race.
