In the zone at Bridgnorth 10K

Telford AC twosome triumph at Bridgnorth

James Egleston and Rachel Coupe shone for their club.

Telford AC had two reasons to celebrate at Sunday’s (30 October) Bridgnorth 10K with James Eglestone and Rachel Coupe the first man and woman at a well supported race. They weren’t derailed by the final climb up Railway Street...

It was back on track and full steam ahead for the 2022 Bridgnorth 10K that attracted runners from local clubs and further afield to taste the delights of this challenging course. The weather was challenging too with grey skies and rain at the 7th outing for this autumn race from Bridgnorth Running Club.

Spectators cheered as the runners sped off at 11am from the Town Hall up, down and around Bridgnorth, with crowds lining the route to applaud and provide words of encouragement. Their support and that of the marshals gave them an extra boost up the hills and onto the finish, also at the Town Hall.

James Egleston of Telford AC was the winner of the 2022 Bridgnorth 10K in 33:17. Daniel Turner of Wolverhampton & Bilston AC took second place in 34:43 and Bruce Fanshawe of Aldridge RC third in 35:14.

There was success again for Telford AC, this time in the women’s race with Rachel Coupe winning in 42:49. Joanne Bentley of Stone Master Marathoners (Stone MM) finished second in 44:45 with Lisa Yeomans of Telford Harriers third in 47:37.

The medal, t-shirt and goody bag were well received by the finishers who enjoyed being back at Bridgnorth – and even Railway Street.

Here’s to the 2023 race.
