The Easygoing Ultra

Race organisers, Greener Miles, have announced an exhilarating new 32 mile ultra running event inspired by the Audax spirit of cycling. The Tyne Bridges to Boundaries Ultra will take place in spring 2024 so plenty of time to get yourself race ready!
Speaking about the new event, a spokesperson said: "Get ready to challenge yourself, explore new horizons, and embrace the camaraderie of endurance sports. Inspired by the legendary Audax rules from the world of cycling, our running event emphasises self-sufficiency, camaraderie, and the thrill of going the distance.
"We encourage participants to embrace the Audax mindset and embark on an unforgettable adventure that pushes their limits. This event is not about racing against others but challenging yourself to achieve personal milestones. It's a celebration of the joy of running, shared experiences, and the pursuit of personal achievement.
Organisers will still recognise those who decide to race, but everyone taking part willl get their card stamped and receive a Wildflower medal no matter how fast they complete the challenge.
The carefully planned route takes participants from the vibrant Newcastle quayside, through industrial areas along the river to beautiful country parks and riverside meadows. Those taking part will experience the beauty of nature as they run along scenic trails, winding roads and hidden gems that showcase the best this region has to offer.
Unlike traditional races, this race features a generous time limit of 10 hours, allowing runners to fully immerse themselves in the journey. Take the time to appreciate the surroundings, connect with fellow participants, and savour the moments along the way.
There are numerous cafes along the route where runners can replenish supplies and the event will provide snacks and water at Wylam (10 and 22 miles). There will also be a free halfway buffet at Stocksfield Cricket Club at around mile 16.
Join a community of like-minded individuals who share your passion for endurance sports. Encourage and be encouraged as you cross paths with fellow participants, sharing stories, tips, and the sense of accomplishment that comes from pushing your limits.
